The rise of the Herts Stags

The Herts Stags may be one of the league's newer teams, but what we've achieved in such a short space of time has been truly remarkable. Our journey began last season after KW Badminton withdrew from the league. Having played for KW the previous season, I was excited by the opportunity to help build something new with the Herts Stags.

We started with just a Championship team, but our ambitions quickly grew. Before long, we had expanded to include both Premiership and Conference teams, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the club. Our debut season exceeded all expectations. The Championship team reached the Ultimate Finals, finishing as runners-up. For a brand-new team, it was a fantastic achievement and gave everyone involved a glimpse of what the Herts Stags could become.

Growing from Strength to Strength

This season, the Herts Stags have expanded once again and will now compete across all five divisions of the league, reflecting just how far the club has come in such a short time.

Our squad has also grown significantly, with 23 new players joining the Stags this season. We're especially proud that 31 of our players are from Hertfordshire, highlighting our commitment to developing local badminton while creating opportunities for players across the county.

The squad features a great blend of talent, ranging from dedicated club players to experienced national-level competitors. That mix of experience, quality and enthusiasm is one of the club's greatest strengths.

Looking Ahead

Competing across five divisions brings exciting opportunities, but it also presents a huge challenge. Every match will be fiercely contested, and earning a place in the finals will require consistent performances throughout the season.

That's exactly what makes the journey so exciting. Our aim is to see as many Herts Stags teams as possible qualify for the Ultimate Finals and continue building on the success we've enjoyed since entering the league.

From launching with a single Championship team to now fielding teams across all five divisions, the growth of the Herts Stags has been nothing short of incredible.

We're proud of what we've built together—and even more excited about what lies ahead.
